Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (AF) delivers on Strategy 1.6 in the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan through pilot projects and collaborative initiatives to facilitate the development of voluntary market based instruments for ecosystem services. AF has been leading and providing support to research projects focused on the adoption of Beneficial Management Practices (BMPs) and their ties to ecosystem services. These projects focus on identification of ecological and economic impacts of BMPs to ensure BMP adoption by private landowners is more likely to support ecological outcomes in a market-based way.
