Looking for information about government-funded programs, irrigation and farm water or environmental stewardship projects? Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (AF) specialists will be on hand at the 2019 Ag Expo in Lethbridge, February 27 to March 1, to provide the answers.

Specialists will be able answer questions about the programs under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership, including irrigation efficiency, environmental stewardship and climate change, public trust and farm water supply.

Expect to see demonstrations at the AF booth as well. “As always staff enjoy demonstrating some of the work we do,” says Laura Thygesen, agri-environmental extension coordinator with AF. “The featured models will be of a well, pivot heads and a demonstration of how a drone with a camera can identify stressed plants.”

Staff will also be available to speak about the Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) and canal water quality.

“Environmental stewardship specialists can share further information about the phosphorous filter and rolled compacted concrete projects. They can even show you how to use the ManureTracker app,” she says.

The AF booth will be in the south pavilion at the Lethbridge Exhibition Park during the tradeshow. For more information about any of these programs, resources and tools, contact the Alberta Ag-Info Centre at 310-FARM (3276).
