Food Waste Study (2017)

This study examines the environmental, social, and economic impacts of food waste generation and ranks a number of different technologies that may be suitable to extract additional value of the food waste. The preliminary technology evaluation includes ratings on the technology readiness level, ease of implementation, environmental benefit, the economic opportunity, and CAPEX/OPEX. Eight different recommendations for Alberta to divert solid organic wastes from landfills were suggested.

Canadian Food Loss and Waste Case Study Series (2017)

Alberta Agriculture and Forestry and Provision Coalition partnered with two bakeries in Alberta - Byblos Bakery and Calgary Italian Bakery Ltd. - on a food and resource conservation initiative to explore the opportunities on prevention of food loss and waste, as well as related utility consumption, within their operations.
