Straight hail insurance provides protection for ‘spot loss’ damage to crops due to hail or accidental fire and fire caused by lightning.
Anybody with an interest in an insurable crop grown in Alberta can participate whether they are a producer, a tenant, or a crop share landlord. (Landlords who cash rent are not eligible.)
There is a program dollar coverage limit per acre based on the crop and whether it is grown on dryland or irrigated acres. The combined dollar coverage of all insured parties cannot exceed the program coverage limit.
Governments do not contribute to either administration expenses or premium cost. |
