Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)

My CFIA On - line Information Sessions
On January 9, 2017, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) launched My CFIA – a new electronic tool that allows industries to conduct business transactions online. In this first of a series of releases, clients were able to sign up for My CFIA and Canada's domestic dairy sector could apply or renew their establishment registration online.
The second release of My CFIA introduces more online services including requesting permissions such as licences, permits, registrations and authorizations, as well as some export certificates. Services that are available in each release can be found in the rollout plan on the My CFIA site.
During the month of July, the CFIA will be holding information sessions via webinar which includes a walk-through of My CFIA and a question and answer period. To register for a webinar, consult the schedule here.

Modification of Beer Compositional Standards
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has published a notice of intent in Canada Gazette Part I regarding amendments to beer compositional standards found in the Food and Drug Regulations, Division 2.
Stakeholders have been invited to comment on the published "Notice of intent to amend the Food and Drug Regulations to update the beer compositional standards". Comment deadline is August 16, 2017.

Regulatory Cooperation Council Consultation
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has launched a new web-based consultation tool to gather feedback from stakeholders on current Canada-United States Regulatory Cooperation Council (RCC) work plans and to provide input on future opportunities. The RCC is a joint initiative between Canada and the United States that facilitates regulatory cooperation between the two countries and aims to enhance economic competitiveness while protecting the health, safety and environment of both countries.
Stakeholder consultation is key to the development of work plans under the RCC. The new web-based consultation tool will provide a consistent structure for stakeholders to provide feedback on the RCC initiatives that matter to them, and input on future opportunities. Consultation is open until October 31, 2017. Information gathered in this consultation period will be used to help develop the next iteration of RCC work plans for food safety, meat inspection and certification, animal health, and plant health. To provide feedback on the work plans and to provide input on future opportunities click here.
