The SIAL Canada show is one of North America’s most important food industry tradeshows, attracting more than 900 exhibitors and 17,000 agri-food professionals from Canada, the U.S., and 60 other countries. SIAL Canada is key to the Canadian agri-food industry and an entryway to American and international markets.

Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan secured booth space at SIAL Canada’s May 2018 show in Montreal to create a Western Canadian Pavilion that showcased 19 companies, including six from Alberta.

A key component of SIAL included two business to business (B2B) programs which allowed Alberta companies to meet one-on-one with U.S. and international buyers.

“It was great to see the collaboration among provinces to leverage the Canada brand and also to see all the companies interacting and building synergies,” says Shelly Nguyen, trade and relations officer with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry. “Companies reported that they had good meetings with buyers at the show. They were also exposed to new market trends and innovative marketing and packaging ideas.”

Alberta participating companies included Siwin Foods, Canyon Creek Soup Company, Real Treat Kitchen, Drizzle Honey, Sweetsmith Candy, and Alberta Rhodiola Rosea Growers Organization (ARGGO).
