This year’s Lacombe Field Day is taking place Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Field Crop Development Centre (FCDC).

“The Lacombe Field Day shows the range of research happening here in Lacombe and across the province,” says Erin Collier, field day coordinator at Alberta Agriculture and Forestry.

Jointly hosted by FCDC and AAFC’s Lacombe Research and Development Centre, the learning sessions cover pest management, breeding, and agronomy. “We’ll be taking a look at the cultivars behind beer flavour, pea leaf weevil, fusarium head blight (FHB) management, new triticale and barley varieties, and how we use bioinformatics in the breeding system, among other topics.”

Doors open at 8:15 a.m. with the tour running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Register for the Lacombe Field Day or call 1-800-387-6030 by July 24. Registration is $20 plus GST and includes lunch. It takes place at the JH Helm Cereal Research Centre.

“The Lacombe Field Day would not be possible without the support of Alberta Barley, Alberta Pulse Growers, Alberta Seed Growers, and Alberta Wheat Commission,” adds Collier.
