The Peace Lowland reports large increases in livestock expenses throughout the ecoregion. Scattered areas near the northern, eastern and southern boundaries of the ecoregion show moderate increases to large decreases. Many SLC’s in these locations are not extensively farmed; thus, the results are not applicable throughout these units.

Large increases and, to a lesser degree, areas of little change are reported by many ecoregions in central and southern Alberta. Most of the Boreal Transition shows a large increase. The Aspen Parkland shows generally large increases. Little change is reported in the central area for landscapes with a high proportion of Solonetzic soils. The Fescue Grassland reports large increases as well as large decreases in the southern part of the ecoregion, corresponding to hummocky landscapes with slopes to 15%. The Mixed Grassland shows large increases and little change to large decreases in hummocky landscapes of Solonetzic soils with slopes to 15% in the northern area.

Overall, there are generally large increases in livestock expenses in most ecoregions. Areas that vary from this result tend to have resource characteristics that are atypical of the ecoregion as a whole. These characteristics include variable surface form, less naturally fertile, Solonetzic soils and steep slopes
