| | The frost-free period is the number of days between the date of the last spring frost and the date of the first fall frost. Frost-free periods in Alberta vary from more than 125 days to less than 85 days in non-agricultural areas. The frost-free period can be about a month longer in southern Alberta compared to the rest of the province. Areas of higher elevation have shorter frost-free periods.
