Title:AG30MAS: AGRASID Version 3.0 Basic Soil Evidence File
Geospatial_Data_Presentation_Form:Tabular digital data.
Description:
Abstract:

The Basic Soil Evidence File (AG30MAS) contains data pertaining to the identified soils within each soil landscape polygon. The number of soils described for a polygon may vary depending upon the extent of each of the soils. Some fields contained within this file contain many blank values. However these fields are necessary because the information contained within them represents the data that the soil analyst recorded about the soils contained within a soil polygon.

Purpose
Contains data pertaining to the soil types indentified to each specific soil landscape polygon to provide the many relational links between the spatial data of a soil landscape polygon and the soils contained within each soil landscape polygon.

Attribute:
Attribute_Label: MAS_SYM: Soil Name (series) Symbol defined as a 3 uppercase letter code in the Alberta Soil Names File in AG30SNF.
Attribute:
Attribute_Label: MAS_VARNT: Soil Variant is used to describe soils that are sufficiently different to warrant recognition but do not justify a new soil name due to limited geographic extent (see Table 4.9 in the Procedures Manual).
Attribute:
Attribute_Label: NEW_SYMBOL: This field contains a concatenated version of the Soil Name Symbol and Soil Variant variables discussed previously. The NEW_SYMBOL is a foreign key field used to join (or link) to the AG30SNF and link to the Soil Layer File AG30SLF.
