 A skilled workforce is essential to the long-term competitiveness and success of the forest industry. The Alberta forest sector provides 16,100 direct jobs. 8% of the forestry labour force identifies as being Indigenous Peoples, which is the highest of any major economic sector in Alberta.

The Forestry Division is a strong and active supporter of several workforce initiatives including:

CAREERS: The Next Generation

CAREERS is an industry-driven public/private partnership dedicated to the career development of Alberta's youth. CAREERS is a catalyst bringing together industry, educators, government, communities, and students to meet the inter-dependent needs of youth employability and skilled labour shortages.

Work Wild

Work Wild is a campaign that reaches out to youth who are about to make one of the most important choices of their lives – their career. Work Wild educates youth on the diversity of employment choices in forestry and opens eyes to the amazing benefits of working in a sustainable industry.
