 The Economics of Milk Production
The provincial Dairy Cost Study is an annual study done with dairy farmers in Alberta. Participants across the province submit monthly business information for the calendar year. Results are then aggregated and reported as Alberta benchmarks. Two regional sub-groups are also identified for Northern Alberta (north of Ponoka) and Southern Alberta.

The study is designed to represent a cross section of dairy farm by the size of their milk quota. Efforts are made to select study participants by random sampling to provide better representation of the total population.
