On April 24th the Alberta Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (AARD) joined with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAC) to announce the replacement program for the Agriculture Policy Framework (APF) funding programs which concluded March 31st, 2009. The new federal/provincial agriculture funding policy will be known as “Growing Forward” and at the April 24th announcement in Edmonton the province outlined 12 program areas with 21 specific programs where funding will be provided to agriculture, food and agri-based businesses operating primarily in the crop industry. Concurrently the Alberta Livestock and Meat Agency (ALMA) announced similar programs (also funded by the federal government through the Growing Forward agreement) for the meat and dairy industries. Processors can get details on the crop based programs on the Growing Forward website and on meat and dairy based programs on the Alberta Livestock and Meat Agency's website. |
