ARD Farm Safety works in partnership with primary producers, stakeholders and the media to enable a culture of agricultural safety. We develop and deliver injury prevention programs and messaging to encourage workplace safety best practices on farms.
Vision
As a trusted partner of the agriculture industry and its stakeholders, we enable Alberta farmers to thrive in a self-sustained culture of safety.
The program places an emphasis on life-long learning and has a variety of program areas designed to seemlessly connect with the different audiences. Through the program, farmers, workers and their families can access educational information to help integrate best practices in risk management on their agricultural operations.
Awareness and Education
Children
Coloring activity books, cartoon posters, coloring sheets and interactive displays for young children.
The Farm Safety Kids Club is available to all children. Children receive a newsletter two times per year.
Interactive displays like hazard hunts and gravity flow grain wagons for school-aged children.
Program staff are available on a limited basis to speak on farm safety awareness. Options for additional speakers and farm safety educators are available at the Farm Safety Online Directory.
Tweens
Educational materials on safely performing age-appropriate farm chores are available for parents and other educators. Material is aimed at children nine to 14 years of age.
The Safety Wranglers newsletter is available to this age group full of fun learning activities.
New and Young Farm Workers
Interactive displays regarding chemicals, hearing protection and helmet use.
I Love Agriculture Facebook page for young adults.
Fact sheets and reference booklets are available on the program’s website or upon request.

Adults/Farm owners & managers
FarmSafe Alberta is a safety planning tool that's available for farmers looking to develop and implement a health and safety system on their farming operation. Farmers work with a safety professional in the industry to develop a system tailored to their farm based on a template similar to other industry occupational health and safety systems. Farmers successfully implementing a FarmSafe Alberta plan on their farms will meet the requirement to obtain their Certificate of Recognition (COR), which makes them eligible to receive rebates on Workers' Compensation Board premiums.

SafeFarm newsletter emailed out to subscribers three times per year. Newsletter is available via hard copy as well.

Training
SafeThinkTM: Agriculture is a safety training course designed for new and young farm workers and their employers.
Support to the 4-H, Green Certificate and Summer Farm Employment programs to ensure farm safety is integrated into their programming.
Community Engagement
The Farm Safety Online Directory connects farm communities, groups and individuals with those providing a service in the area of farm safety.
The Planning a Farm Safety Day Camp manual is available online or upon request to individuals and community groups
Program staff are available on a limited basis to travel with interactive displays and lead safety sessions.
Give-away items available for community events upon request. Program staff reserves the right to limit quantities based on supply.
Farm Safety Coordinators provide information, resources and networking capabilities for producers to create or enhance a safety system on their operation.
