| | An efficient and effective mortality disposal plan should be part of every poultry producer’s management strategy.
The Mortality Economic Analysis (MEAn) program was designed to allow producers to estimate the costs associated with each of the disposal methods. The program deals with the costs associated with incineration, rendering, composting and burial. It also includes an estimate of the size of the disposal problem in the event of catastrophic mortality, which will help producers create a plan to dispose of large numbers of birds.
