Call of the Land is a five day-a-week, 9-minute agricultural radio program produced by Alberta Agriculture. This information and extension program is aired on 25 Alberta radio stations. For over 50 years Call of the Land has broadcast during the noon hour to a province wide network of stations. It now reaches a daily audience of over 110,000. Aimed at rural Albertans, stories keep the agricultural community current on the latest agricultural technologies, research findings, production methods and marketing trends, as well as government programs and policies. There are a number of Working Well workshops being held across the province. Remaining February workshops are as follows: February 8th in Thorhild, the 15th in Gunn, the 16th in Grovedale, the 22nd in Ponoka and February 27th in Red Deer. If you would like to get the facts about producing safe honey, a series of workshops are being held across the province. The workshops are intended to inform beekeepers about the safe use of agricultural chemicals. Remaining workshops are as follows: the 16th in Peace River, February 22nd in Edmonton, the 28th in St. Paul, and March 1st in Westlock. If you’re interested in a new online resource on lean and food safety, there are two workshops introducing The Lean Journey, which also includes a new food safety module. Workshops are February 7th in Calgary and the 9th in Edmonton. Contact Nicola Stevens at 403-948-8511 for more information.

AFSC is hosting a One Stop Risk Management Information Session on February 9 at the Morningside Hall. There will be updates and overviews of risk management programs, livestock price insurance programs, lending programs, and AgriStability programs. Farm Credit Canada is holding a number of free workshops. The Estate Planning Workshop goes Tuesday, February 14th at the Eaglesham Community Hall. The Succession Planning Workshop is Thursday February16th at the George Dawson Inn in Dawson Creek, and Hiring and Keeping Employees goes Thursday, March 15th at the Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie. The Alberta Soft Wheat Producers Commission is holding its annual meeting February 16th at the Legion Hall in Vauxhall. Topics include the formation of an Alberta Wheat commission,
