Alberta Natural Health Products and Functional Ingredients Networking Meeting

Canadian Supplier Day at General Mills
September 13, 2016 -  Minneapolis, Minnesota
General Mills is seeking new sourcing and co-manufacturing partners to expanding its capabilities and product offerings in the snacking arena. Canadian companies are well positioned to be suppliers of choice; given shared standards for high-quality and food safety, proximity and long-standing relationships between Canadian suppliers and General Mills (90% of General Mills’ oats come from Canada!).
The Canadian Supplier Day at General Mills will consist of an educational seminar by both Canadian and General Mills presenters, followed by break-out meetings/sessions by snacking sub-categories between General Mills’ R&D, product development, external supply chain teams and Canadian suppliers. Mission to Health Ingredients Japan and Korea
October 2-8, 2016 - Seoul, South Korea, and Tokyo, Japan
Alberta companies are invited to participate in an outgoing market development mission anchored around the Health Ingredients Japan tradeshow (HI Japan). HI Japan is a key tradeshow for the functional, natural and organic food ingredients, food additives, cosmeceutical and verification of function sectors. The mission will include a one-day pre-arranged business to business (B2B) meeting program in Seoul, South Korea; followed by a visit to Tokyo, Japan where companies will have the opportunity to engage in pre-arranged B2B meetings and utilize shared exhibition space at the show. Grant Programs - Space Still Available!

Food Safety Systems Processor Grant
This program is designed to help food processors invest in new or improved food safety systems and production practices. Non-capital expenses (50%) related to the development and implementation of approved food safety programs include staff training, consultant costs, HACCP coordinator wages and food safety audits.
Capital expenses (20%) related to improving a specific food safety issue are available to a maximum of $15,000. They may include facility upgrades, utensils and bins approved for food use, sanitation equipment and traceability systems. Food safety testing equipment (80%) is eligible to a maximum of $5,000. Business Opportunity Grant
Under the Growing Forward 2 Business Opportunity Program, successful applicants are eligible for reimbursement of between 50% and 75% of certain non-capital costs related to researching and planning a new business venture. Eligible costs include feasibility studies, business plans, market research, marketing plans, business management coaching sessions and succession plans. Established processors and producers will be reimbursed for 50% of eligible consulting fees to a maximum of $5000 per activity. For more information, please contact Kimberley Dacyk at 780-427-3908.
