Student Summer Employment
The Agricultural Processing Industry Employment Program is available to provide employment opportunities and skill training for students in an industry that offers excellent career opportunities. The program also provides an opportunity for small agricultural processors to have some extra hands during the busy summer months.
The program, offered by Alberta Agriculture & Rural Development, is offered during the month of May through August. Employers can be reimbursed for one third of the employee’s wages to a maximum of $500 per month.
Students must be presently enrolled in a post secondary institution and must be returning to school in the fall 2010. Eligible employers are owners or operators of a value-added agricultural processing business, or a business that changes the form of an agricultural product post slaughter or post harvest.
Applications must be submitted jointly by the employer and the student by the April 16, 2010.
