On yesterday’s program, we heard from Barry Yaremcio, beef and forage specialist at the Ag-Info Centre about how the combination of higher feed requirements due to weather and feed shortages in some parts of the province is forcing some producers to turn cows out onto frozen dormant pastures. Yaremcio says the over wintered forage does not generally have the same quality as what was present in the fall, which means supplementing feed, especially for lactating cows, may be required.
