How can genetic and genomic tools help identify superior animals and what difference will this make to the productivity and profitability of a cow herd? John Basarab, senior research scientist with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, has been involved in this research for a number of years and he joins us on the line to talk about that research.

Interview with John Basarab (2:33 minutes) (1.17 Mb)

John Basarab is one of the speakers at the upcoming Tools to Build Your Cow Herd seminars, which get underway next week. Call the Ag-Info Centre at 310-3276 or go to www.agriculture.alberta.ca/events. I’ll have more with Basarab on tomorrow’s program.
