Alberta Agriculture’s website has a tool called the Soil Information Viewer that can help with an understanding of soils in the province. And that tool has just been upgraded. David Spiess, geographical information systems engineer with Alberta Agriculture, dropped by the studio to talk about the viewer and how producers can use it.

Interview with David Spiess (2:35 minutes) (1.18 Mb)

We’ll hear more about the specific upgrades on tomorrow’s program. Spiess also says a webinar is being planned for February to learn more about the soil information viewer and its upgrades. In the meantime, if you want to check out the Alberta Soil Information Viewer itself, go to Alberta Agriculture's webpage.

And a reminder you can listen to Call of the Land and check out coming events on your mobile device using the Call of the Land App. It’s available for free from iTunes and Google Play
