Have you ever wanted to own and operate your own farm?

Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (AF) is hosting an information session on Getting into Farming on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at the Airdrie Agriculture Centre.

“This session is for those who are thinking about getting into farming as a business and who want farming to be their primary source of income,” says Kathy Bosse, new venture specialist, AF. “It’ll give participants a ‘taste of agriculture’ and information about what the industry is like, what they need to research/do to establish a successful enterprise and what resources are available to them in Alberta.”

Getting into Farming will cover a variety of topics:

  • overview of agriculture
  • business planning
  • personal assessment
  • financial
  • land
  • resource/education
Two producers will also tell their story of how they got started in farming.

The Getting into Farming session runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $25/person and includes lunch. For more information and to register, call the Alberta Ag-Info Centre at 1-800-387-6030.
