The Lacombe Field Day will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at the Field Crop Development Centre (FCDC).

“The Lacombe Field Day is going to be celebrating Canada 150 by highlighting the past 150 years of agriculture in Canada,” says Erin Collier, field day coordinator, Alberta Agriculture and Forestry, Lacombe. “The tour will show FCDC research alongside other research and that of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

“We will be looking at historical and new barley, wheat, and triticale varieties, how weed and disease populations have changed, upcoming nitrogen efficient varieties, and more.”

Doors open at 8 a.m. with the tour running from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Register by July 14 either online or by calling 1-800-387-6030. Registration is $20 plus GST and includes lunch. The FCDC is located south of Lacombe on Highway 2A, then south on Range Road 270.

“The Lacombe Field Day would not be possible without the support of Alberta Barley, Alberta Canola Producers, Alberta Pulse Growers, Alberta Seed Growers, and Alberta Wheat Commission,” adds Collier.
