| | The 12th Annual Meeting of the Prairie Pesticide Minor Use Consortium (PPMUC) is being held in the conference room of the Potato Growers of Alberta, in Taber on February 12, 2013. The Consortium was formed in December 2000, with the aim to facilitate the registration of pest management products for the crops and commodities produced by its members. The annual meeting will start off with a brief business meeting to review the financial report, status of minor use requests and emergency registrations and election of directors. Following that, Patricia Curry, director, Value Assessment and Re-evaluation Management Directorate, Pest Management Regulatory Agency, Health Canada, Ottawa, will provide an update on policy issues affecting minor use registration and general pesticide registration and harmonization. A minor use research update from the Scott Research Station, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Scott, Saskatchewan, will round out the day. Individuals working as pesticide applicators or certified crop advisors will be able to obtain an educational credit. There is no registration charge for attending the annual meeting. For further information, contact Ken May, minor use procurement officer, at 403-381-5388, or Blair Roth, PPMUC chairman, at 403-382-3405. |
