MEXICO MISSION: On a mission to Mexico in November, the International Relations and Marketing Branch showcased product lines from three Alberta companies at the Sample Canada event in Mexico City. The mission generated robust leads in particular from Wal-Mart Mexico, HEB Mexico, Sam’s Club, Comercial Mexicana as well as Strategia Interamericana, GVM Comercial de Alimentos for baby food, snacks, gluten-free baked products, pulses, gourmet spices, and sauces from Alberta.
Paola Deneault also attended meetings with local regulatory bodies, ANIAME (Mexican Association of Edible Oil and Fat Industries) members import large quantities of canola seed from Canada; and APPAMEX (Mexican Association of Suppliers for Agricultural Products), members include multinational trade corporations interested in the trade of bulk commodities, such as oats, pulses, canola, canola meal, soy bean, and have an important role on advocacy on the regulatory framework in Mexico. Both associations are interested in importing from Alberta/Canada.
