| | Data and information relating to the Canadian forage industry continues to be sparse and fragmented at best. Particularly so are statistics relating to production, shipments, carry-over stocks, prices, etc., all of which are integral in monitoring the growth of the forage industry. In an attempt to address this need, for the past several years, Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD) has been conducting its own annual surveys (processed alfalfa and more recently, compressed hay which started in 1998), to generate data specific to Canada, Alberta and where appropriate, some of the other Canadian provinces. |
