Egg Farmers of Alberta along with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry completed an egg footprint to better understand and quantify the environmental impact of egg production in Alberta, using a life cycle assessment method. The first of its kind in Canada, the study involved on-farm data collection from farmgate to grader, covering all life cycle stages of production. See the following bulletin for more details.

Environmental Footprint of Egg

Building on the life cycle assessment, Egg Farmers of Alberta are taking new approaches to sustainability. For Alberta egg farmers, sustainable production is socially responsible, environmentally sound and economically viable. From stakeholder engagement to continuous improvement in adopting beneficial management practices, Egg Farmers of Alberta are committed to environmental protection and sustainable development.
