Alberta Soil Information Viewer: Creating Accurate Field Sketches | |

| | Ralph Romanchuk now needs to produce field sketches as part of the Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) process.

- Select the "Go to Online Soil Viewer" link.
- If you previously bookmarked "EFP Example", select "Find Location" - "Spatial Bookmark" - "EFP Example".
- Otherwise, press the "Locate Township" button
- Select Township 055, Range 23, West of the 4th merdian. Press the "Locate" button.
- Select the "Zoom In" tool.
Drag a box around sections 11, 12, 13, and 14.
- Select the "Pan" tool.
Drag the north half of section 12 to the center of the mapping window.
- Set the scale of the mapping window to 1:10,000. The scale can be found in the bottom left portion of the screen.
- If a message appears stating that the "area that you have selected is beyond the limits defined for this map," you may need to increase your screen resolution.
- Maximize the Soil Information Viewer Window
- Select the "grid markup" tool.
- In the "Grid Markup Tool" sidebar, set the "Horizontal Grid Cells" and "Vertical Grid Cells" to 10.
- Press OK.
- Either use the grid overlay as a refence for sketching the "field" or "field groupings" required by the EFP manual, or print the map"
- Hit the "Print" button

- Leave the Template/Quality and Scale fields at their default settings. In the Map Title field, type "Field Sketch".
- The map will be created as a PDF. Click on the "Open Map" link.
- You can either save or print the resulting map.
