| | The goal of the Prairie Pest Monitoring Network is to develop an early warning system for field crop pests that is timely and user friendly.
Being forewarned means that:
- Timely scouting and control operations can be carried out before crop losses occur.
- Appropriate levels of insecticides can be sourced by the ag-retailers and aerial applicators and they can line up additional resources if they feel they will be needed in their area.
- Workshops on scouting and economic thresholds in affected areas can be held before outbreaks occur.
