What to look for?
High populations cause patches of stunted, yellowish wilted plants, not to be confused with herbicide injury. In early July, white cysts of the female nematode are visible on the roots. Wide spread in the U.S. in beet acres and found in Alberta in the 1960's. It has a wide host range that includes canola, mustard and many weeds.

Management strategy
Follow a crop rotation that includes canola, mustard or beets only once every 4 years and control susceptible weeds such as stinkweed and pigweed.
