What to look for?
This disease is widespread under humid growing conditions. The disease can cause premature ripening of the crop.

Management strategy
The fungus winters as sclerotia in the soil. Control is via crop rotation. of 3 - 4 years.

Downy Mildew.
Peronospora ducometi

What to look for?
Downy mildew causes leaf yellowing and premature defoliation of the crop.

Management strategy
Clean seed and 3 - 4 year crop rotation gives disease control.

Aster Yellows.
Mycoplasma - phytoplasma

What to look for?
Aster Yellows shows up occasionally in the crop but levels rarely exceed more than 5%.
