Disease description
Infected leaves show yellow stripes which turn gray and then black. Longitudinal splits develop exposing black spore masses. Kentucky blue grasses are most prone to infection, but bent grasses, fescues and timothies may be infected with different strains. In all western provinces.
Predisposing factors
- infested seed
- susceptible cultivars, particularly Kentucky blue grass and bent grass
Cultural control
Avoid susceptible cultivars of Kentucky blue grass such as Merion and Common. Use Park where the disease is a problem. |
