Disease description
Composite organisms of algae and fungi. Low-growing, pale green to dark brown, shrubby, or leafy growth intermingled with grass. Found on poor soils in low to high rainfall areas, particularly on neglected tree-shaded lawns.
Predisposing factors
- low fertility
- lime-deficient soils may be more prone to attack
Cultural control
Remove lichen by scarification and follow with appropriate fertilizer and/or lime and aeration.
Chemical control
None necessary
