Uploading information from the Excel spreadsheets on your computer to the CCIA (Canadian Cattle Identification Agency) database:

  • does not guarantee that the information was submitted without errors,
  • data was accepted by the database.
If this happens, all records submitted will not be printed on the birth date certificate.

Problems with data accepted by the database may be caused by:
  • Tag information not accepted because tags not released from retailer
  • Errors when entering tag numbers onto the spreadsheets
  • Data base problems at CCIA not accepting the information
  • Tags are not in the correct producer account
  • Date entered incorrectly
  • Selected wrong event in the type of spreadsheet
"Transaction # ID" numbers were generated when calf birth date, cross-referencing tags, or retire tag information was submitted. These numbers are required before you can confirm data transfer and acceptance to the CCIA database.

Start the Internet explorer (left click the blue "e" near the Start button at the bottom left of the screen). In the address bar (the white box near the top of the page starting with http://), remove all the text and

1)Type www.clia.livestockid.ca to access the CCIA (Canadian Cattle Identification Agency) website:
.
2)The "Welcome to the CCIA Web Site" screen appears.
  • Click on "Option 1" "Already have an account (click here to login)"
  • Place the cursor on the blue text and left click the mouse button to obtain the next screen.
3)A "User Login" screen appears.
  • Type in your user name and password that were created at the producer registration step.
4)The "Welcome Back" screen appears.

  • A drop down menu appears under Search, left click the mouse on "Request History" (i.e.: events submitted) heading.
5)The "Request History (events submitted)" screen appears.
  • In the "Search criteria box" located at the middle of the page, enter
    • Transaction Number (i.e.: the "T333-----" number created when submitting birth date records)
  • If the data submission date is more than 30 days previous, adjust the date displayed in the box.
  • Click on the "Search" box.
6)The "Last Search Results" screen appears.
  • If the "Status" column near the right hand of the screen indicates "Complete", the data has been accepted without errors. You are finished, and have verified that the information was successfully transmitted.
  • If the "status" column indicates "errors", click on the transaction number ID to obtain the details.
7)The "Request Details" screen appears
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
  • In the "Request Record Details box",
    • On the "error records line, (under the display records heading, third column to the right in the first row) left click on the "Display records" text.
8)
  • Tags that were not accepted onto the data base will appear on the screen.
    • All tag numbers; dates of birth, and reason for the tags not being accepted by CCIA need to be recorded. Have all this information ready before calling CCIA.
This completes the process to verify the data was accepted by the CCIA database.
