Maintain Sanitation

Maintain Cattle Health and Breeding
- Demonstrate knowledge of common dairy cattle diseases & disorders

- Interpret labels, handle & administer basic medications
- Apply udder & teat treatment medications
- Recognize & treatment mastitis
- Inspect & monitor physical facilities for maintenance of proper environmental conditions
- Monitor calving situations & provide assistance
- Recognize & treat bloat
- Recognize & treat milk fever
- Detect a cow in heat/estrus
- Perform A.I. & manage on farm storage of semen
Feeding The Dairy Herd
- Supply adequate water to cattle & perform routine waterer service
- Operate the feeding system & carryout the feeding routine
- Operate & perform routine service in augers & conveyors
- Operate silo unloading equipment & perform routine service & maintenance
Operate Farm Equipment
- Safely operate, maintain & service:
- farm tractors
- front end loaders
- silage blowers an auxiliary equipment
- emergency standby generators
- portable feed millers/mixers
- trucks & tractors with equipment in tow
- two & three axle farm trucks
- Follow safe & courteous road travel regulations
- Repair & maintain fences & corrals
- Safely use & select basic hand/shop tools
- Safely transport livestock
Personal Working Skills
- Manage your training &continuing education
- Effectively communicate & interact on the job
- Manage time effectively
- Demonstrate knowledge of personal financial principles (Optional)
