- Conduct training of farm staff
- Conduct production meetings
Managing Pasture or Range
- Operate a grazing program on improved/cultivate pastures
- Operate a high intensity grazing management system on improved/ cultivated pastures
- Identify range plant communities and plants in native range
- Assess & analyze range condition & utilization in native range
- Manage the range grazing program in native range
- Carry out procedures to operate cattle on community pastures
Feeding Cattle
- Demonstrate a knowledge of cattle nutrition
- Develop & manage a herd feeding program
- Take a feed sample for nutrient analysis & interpret lab results
- Manage farm feed supplies & inventory
Marketing Production
- Demonstrate a basic knowledge of Canadian cow-calf and beef marketing
- Supervise handling & perform procedures to ship cattle in Alberta.
