Due to public concerns about odour emissions from livestock operations, Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, the Alberta Research Council and the University of Alberta are working together on an initiative to:

  • Develop methods to accurately measure odour with confidence;
  • Find technologies that will reliably reduce odour in a cost-effective, practical manner; and
  • Provide information about these technologies to livestock producers.
There will always be some odour from livestock, but Alberta researchers, producers and other industry affilitates are proactive in establishing methods to minimize odour nuisance.
