| | Agricultural Engineering develops programs to address industry needs through partnerships and industry involvement. Industry competitiveness and sustainability is being addressed through applied engineering research, technology development, and technology related to crop and livestock production. Environmental considerations are a common basis of many issues within each of its three functional areas:
- On-Farm Water Management
- Sustainable Crop Production
- Sustainable Livestock Production
Continued emphasis will be placed on water quality, sustainable development of livestock operations, conservation of soil and water resources under various cropping systems, and a wide variety of emerging issues. Engineering has a significant applied research entity: the Agricultural Technology Centre (AgTech Centre), which has well established research and development capabilities and facilities that can be applied across all three functional areas.
The Water Pumping Program is a service to assist producers in obtaining water for domestic and livestock use during times of water shortages. For a nominal fee, producers can rent pipe and pump(s) to fill dugouts or other suitable catch basins from nearby water sources.
