Below are some examples that highlight key policy documents and processes related to rural development in Alberta.

Reports on Progress
The first Report on Progress on the Rural Development Strategy was released in the fall of 2007.

This 2009 Update provides government ministers and their staff a more recent overview of government projects and initiatives directed towards those living in rural Alberta. All government Ministries have contributed to this 2009 Update, providing a sampling of the programs and services for rural Albertans.

The 2007 report showcases rural successes and key actions, initiatives and investments from the 2006-07 fiscal year, as well as some significant programs and services established to serve rural Albertans. A Place to Grow, Alberta's Rural Development Strategy
Alberta's Rural Development Strategy reflects rural Alberta's traditional ties to the land, and its values. It also reflects its support for new opportunities, new ideas and new potential as rural Alberta moves forward to enjoy the full benefit of the Alberta Advantage.

The four key pillars of the strategy that are essential for sustainable rural communities are: economic growth; community capacity, quality of life & infrastructure; health care; and learning & skill development. Questions or requests for rural information may be directed to rural@gov.ab.ca.
