 2008 Surveillance
.

This year the trend represented by larger number of beef samples during calving season
is unchanged (blue line), while the same situation as previus years occurs with dairy cattle,
which maintains constant numbers over the year (orange line).

Same as previus years, the dead category (blue line) represents the largest amount of submissions to the CABSESP, followed by non-ambulatory (purple line) and diseased (orange line).

Total Samples By Animal Type By Month

Beef cattle (blue line) represent the largest number of sample submissions to the CABSESP. The peak observed is associated with calving season and mirrors the sampling distribution observed over time in the program. This trend is not observed in dairy cattle (orange line) due to its particular management conditions. Totals do not include pending or unfit samples. Totals displayed reflect both negative and positive samples tested at the CFIA Lethbridge Laboratory and at the AF laboratory in Edmonton.

Total Samples by Target by Month

The dead category (blue line) represents the largest amount of submissions to the CABSESP, followed by non-ambulatory (purple line) and diseased (orange line). The peak observed in the first two categories during this period is most likely influenced by calving season. Totals do not include pending or unfit samples. Totals displayed reflect both negative and positive samples tested at the CFIA Lethbridge Laboratory and at the AF laboratory in Edmonton.
