Chinook Honey Company wants to be the first meadery (honey winery) in Alberta. The method of using honey to make wine is an ancient process that Cherie Andrews wants to bring to today’s market. Presently the Andrew’s have 200 hives from which they harvest honey, beeswax, pollen and propolis.

Plan for Growth:
  • Expand honey operation to include a tour facility, a retail store and a honey winery (meadery).
  • Have 90% of wine sales stemming from on the farm
  • Increase research and product development that has been in development for the past 5 years.
  • Continue to sell honey, beeswax, pollen and propolis in value-added forms and retail.
The Farm Renewal-Makeover Scholarship will assist Chinook Winery with building renovation, marketing and purchase of winery equipment for the expansion of their operation which will include a tour facility and retail store.
