Before agreeing to a financing deal, take time to reassess your initial needs to ensure that it is still a good match for your business. You can always renegotiate!

Have You Found Adequate Financing?

The following is a checklist to help guide you to the next step in the entrepreneurial process. Although this is not a comprehensive list, consider the following criteria when assessing your financial situation and anticipated growth.
Your business has the equity level to justify growth. If not, you have potential sources of equity
Your business has been profitable or shown the potential for increased profitability
Your lender will be able to cooperate with you during the growth phase
The collateral position of the business is adequate to meet the requirements of the lenders
You have researched sources of government assisted funding
If you do not understand financing then you have someone close to you that does
You can clearly explain to an investor ‘what your company is worth’ which includes numbers and intangible advantages such as management and employee expertise
You are prepared to meet with a potential investor and have identified key points to negotiate
You have the necessary financing to put your growth plan in to action!
If you meet the criteria on this checklist then you have explored your financial options for growth and accessed the necessary financing to grow your business. With the necessary financing in hand you may want to consider the Export Readiness of your business.
