Other examples of Beef Value Chains Provincially and Federally Inspected Processors
When searching for and choosing a processor keep in mind that any meat being offered for sale in Alberta must be:
  • Government inspected
  • Approved fit for human consumption.
The facility that you choose will depend on where you are selling your meat. For instance:
  • If selling within Alberta - You must use facilities that are provincially inspected, federally inspected or European Union approved and permitted to slaughter meat for wholesale.
  • If you are selling into other provinces or in the USA - You must use either a federally inspected facility or a European Union approved facility.
For a listing of provincially and federally inspected facilities please follow this link to the Alberta Agricultural Processing Industry Directory, which is compiled by Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development.
