Do You Have the Necessary Finances?

The following is a checklist to help guide you to the next step in the entrepreneurial process. Although this is not a comprehensive list, consider the following criteria when searching for and obtaining the finances needed to start your new venture
You have determined your potential return on investment and it is an acceptable figure
You have determined and obtained your borrowing requirements and have allowed a reasonable income for yourself
Chosen investors or lenders have a reasonable chance to get their money back
You have calculated your startup costs and have developed a cash flow forecast to determine your monthly financial needs
You have determined and found necessary working capital to cover initial operating costs
After determining how much capital you can raise on your own, you have talked to all your contacts including friends, family, and other entrepreneurs to learn about any additional financing options
You have enough ready cash to cover your operating expenses until your product or service starts to turn a profit
You have prepared for meetings with potential investors and have identified key negotiation points
Your borrowing requirements have been determined and met by a financial assistance source
If you meet the criteria on this checklist then you are ready to start thinking about the various Business Considerations that will come in to play when starting a new venture, such as regulations, packaging, business structure, taxation and labour.
