Regional cuisine advocates the usage of quality locally grown ingredients, in union with the culture, geography, and history of Alberta. The "Dine Alberta: savour regional flavour" project is a stimulating way to showcase local agriculture products, family owned farms, and value added processing. Alberta's best chefs, at restaurants, bistros, catered food events, B&B's and meal preparation establishments are using Alberta's best homegrown foods to create unforgettable meals all year round. Are You a Producer Interested in Selling to Restaurants and other Food Establishments??

Chefs across the province at various food establishments are looking for high quality Alberta-grown and raised products. To assist chefs or their product buyers and the public in sourcing a wide variety of Alberta-grown or processed ingredients, an Alberta Regional Cuisine Sourcing Director is developed. Contact information for every producer or their distributor, who are registered in Dine Alberta is listed. The directory is updated annually and is available in two formats:

  • an on-line searchable format
  • a hard copy format delivered to participating restaurants and food establishments and is available for download (see below) for chefs and consumers interested in sourcing local food.
Chefs who particpate in Dine Alberta are encouraged to create regional cuisine menus containing a minimum of seventy perdent Alberta-grown or processed ingredients. The chefs are to identify on the menu where their product is sourced from.

To assist you the producer in starting the business relationship, once signed up, you will receive an information package containing the 5 Step Producer Marketing Checklist - (pdf 814KB) and the detailed listing of participating Dine Alberta restaurants, caterers and food establishments to call to arrange possible purchases.

Where To Find Dine Alberta Restaurants and Food Establishments

The pots are bubbling and the pans are sizzling in over 117 restaurants across the province all year long, serving menu ideas with Alberta-grown and raised products. So much great food and so little time!

Dine Alberta restaurant and food establishments are listed for you in four separate formats:
1. Detailed Restaurant Listings 2009 (pdf 1298KB) A listing compiled specifically for producers to use for contacting food establishments about their products. It is complete with chef/owner contact information and identifies if the establishment serves local food all year round or on a seasonal basis.
2. Restaurant On-line Searchable Directory - search by fields of regions, alphabetical, or availability.
3. 2009 Participating Restaurants - a list of participating restaurants that includes a description of restaurant and a lilnk to their website.
4. "NEW" On-line Map of Restaurants - complete with driving directions

Alberta Regional Cuisine Sourcing Directory

Contact information for every producer or their distributor who pare registed in Dine Alberta is listed. It is available in two formats:

1. Alberta Regional Cuisine Sourcing Directory - on line searchable format. It is updated continuously and is a good source for the chefs to obtain the most up-to-date information

2. Printable by region - please check to ensure your printer setting is on landscape (8 x 14) prior to printing.

  • Alberta Farm Fresh Producers Association (AFFPA) has 147 members and is dedicated to supporting the production of farm direct market vegetable crops, berry and fruit crops, bedding plants, perennials, herbs, flowers, meats, poultry, eggs and other specialty items in Alberta. AFFPA is a voluntary membership, non-profit organization representing direct market growers. Most AFFPA members market directly to consumers via U-Pick farms, farm gate sales and/or through Farmers' Markets.
  • Alberta Lamb aims to increase consumption of local lamb in the Province of Alberta. Alberta Lamb is a natural, nutritious and delicious meat that can be prepared in a variety of ways.
