Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD) implemented a Scrapie Surveillance Project in September 2007. This project complemented the national on-farm mortality component for scrapie surveillance. The table below shows samples tested for scrapie that were submitted to our four regional laboratories from on- farm mortalities in sheep and goats. In addition samples received from meat inspectors collected from condemned carcasses at provincial slaughter plants were tested for scrapie

Number of samples submitted to regional laboratories by producers and meat inspectors that were tested for scrapie from September 1st 2007 to March 31st 2009.
