This Act provides for the establishment, incorporation, and operation of Women’s Institutes in Alberta for the improvement of social conditions in rural and other communities. This objective is achieved through various mechanisms, such as the study of home economics, child welfare, disease prevention, local neighbourhood needs, and industrial and social conditions. Women’s Institutes may also be active in setting up welcome centres for new settlers in the community, in addition to encouraging agriculture and the improvement of agricultural conditions in the community.
