Quick Viewer

Tabs
Query - This tab is used for selecting and displaying a map. Follow the steps to refine your map selection. The final step is to click on the button "Get Map" which will generate a map in the blank window on the right.

Related information - This tab is used to retrieve and display metadata and related information about the map selected through the query in the window at right, including metadata about the map. A map must be generated before you can select this tab.

Available buttons
Print - Prints the map to the default printer.

Save - Saves the map to your harddrive. Select the folder you want to save your map in using the drop down menu of the dialogue box that appears (outlined in red in Figure 1). Once you've saved the map, you can open it using the "File-Open" menu selections in the program of your choice, or by using Windows Explorer.

Zoom - The zoom button opens a larger version of the map in a new window.

Help icon - Opens the Help page.

Map drawing times
When viewing maps in the Quick Viewer, you can expect display times similar to that of any other images viewed on the web.

Climate Mapper

Legend - Displays legend elements including streams, lakes, cities, and primary highways.

Related Information - This retrieves and displays metadata and related information about the map selected through the query in the window at right. A map must be generated before you can select this tab.

Available buttons
Overview - Toggles a mini map overview of the province in the upper left-hand corner.

Zoom - The zoom button helps you see a specific area in more detail. Select the zoom button. Hold your left mouse button down and drag your cursor over the area that you want to zoom in on.

Pan - Lets you move the map in any direction. Select the pan tool, click on the map and hold the mouse button down. Drag your mouse in the direction you wish to move the map.

Full extent - Returns to the full province view of the map.

Print - Prints the map to the default printer.

Help icon - Opens the Help page.

Map drawing times
When viewing maps using the Climate Mapper, display times will vary greatly depending upon the criteria selected. There are approximately 250 million records that may be searched on a given selection. As a result display/map drawing times can be as quick as five seconds or up to a minute or longer. Users are urged not to change a selection until the current map drawing has been completed!

Weather Mapper

Tabs

Map drawing times
When viewing maps using the Weather Mapper, display times will vary depending on the criteria selected. Users with a high-speed connection can expect maps to display in less than 10 seconds.

Station Viewer

'FullExtent' Full extent - Returns to the full province view of the map.

Zoom - The zoom button helps you see a specific area in more detail. Select the zoom button. Hold your left mouse button down and drag your cursor over the area that you want to zoom in on.

Pan - Lets you move the map in any direction. Select the pan tool, click on the map and hold the mouse button down. Drag your mouse in the direction you wish to move the map.

Select by Rectangle Select by rectangle - Allows you to view data on the weather stations. Select the rectangle tool. Hold your left mouse button down and drag your cursor to include the weather stations that you want to view.

Clear Clear - Clears the map of any stations that were selected.

Identify Identify - The identify button allows you to view details for the weather stations, including the weather elements measured. Select the identify button and click on the stations.

Print - Prints the map to the default printer.

When viewing maps in the Station Viewer, you can expect display times similar to that of any other images viewed on the web.
