 Overview
There are 12 Applied Research and Extension Associations and one umbrella association that receive support funding through the Agriculture Opportunity Fund (AOF) in Alberta. These associations are funded to promote the long term sustainability of the agriculture industry and rural communities in Alberta by promoting production practices that enhance competitiveness while maintaining responsible stewardship of natural resources. To be eligible for the support funding the associations must be incorporated as a society, and have a focus on agriculture applied research and extension.

The AOF supports manpower up to $100,000, agriculture extension up to $40,000, and contributes to environmental stewardship programs. The groups then leverage this funding to obtain the rest of their operational expenses through various municipal and industry sources. For more information about the Agriculture Opportunity Fund please visit the AOF program page.
