Program Description
The Economics and Competitiveness Division (E&C) conducts economic, market and statistical research related to the competitiveness of Alberta's agriculture and agri-food industries. The knowledge and recommendations from this research is provided to ARD clients, fostering continued growth and sustainability of the industry.
Branches of the E&C Division
There are three functional Branches within the Economics and Competitiveness Division that provide expert knowledge and analysis to assist Albertans in the agriculture industry and agri-food business. For more detail, please click on the specific Branch link at the bottom of this document.
- Competitiveness and Market Analysis Branch - Conducts assessments of market and consumer demand and issues affecting the competitiveness environment for Alberta' food and non-food agriculture industry and ARD policy analysis; provides market and commodity outlooks.
- Economics Branch - Provides expertise to analyse strategic opportunities to the agri-food industry and policy analysis to ARD.
- Statistics and Data Development Branch - Conducts surveys and provides statistical data and analysis.
